Christine Mitchell This is an album that will sneakily inspire generations of musicians to come. One of the GOATs. Favorite track: Revenge Complex.

billis An absolutely rad album, I've seen Crystal Desert twice, and didn't get where the vocals were going, but now I see- a supple middleground between Seattle metal greats Sanctuary and a postpunk Cobain. Let Crystal Desert deliver on Black Summer's vibe, and rule forthwith.

Monolithica 05:41
The rise of monolithica A gift from the afterlife Let the regicides divide Unrest in the triage! Undone in the galleria Let your soiled mind unwind Is it more poetic to say that I'm blind? Forget my life -- wasted on more lifeless time

Nightmare 04:31
3.
No Fair 03:27
Through the shadows Blistering lights As the dreams of your darkness died Every time I turn around you're there Take a piece Of our lives Didn't think that we would care? Now we turn around and it's no fair.
4.
I’LL TAKE THE WASTE LAND! WITH PLASTIC COATED ATTITUDE AND AN EMPTY LITTLE ROOM FOR MY EMPTY LITTLE FASCIST PURSUITS SEATTLE OWES ME! MY DECADE OF FAME AND MY DESIGN FOR THE BANNER OF TRUTH IS JUST A SPACE FOR MY NAME SWALLOWED UP BY THE SHADOWS IS IT ANY LESS DANGEROUS? AS I DELIVER THE RIFLE IN THE CULTURAL FOURTH REICH PERVERTICAL RUST MTV ZYKLON-B I’M MOMMA’S LITTLE CHASTISEE ON LSD
5.
Generator 9 05:10
Patient under time Sent to work the generator 9 Pools of black align Obsolete containers of your life (The body and mind) Beyond the odds I found your ego Bent along the value of death Beyond the odds I found the reason Rest to the restless end I've seen a struggle two oblivions deep I've seen the final buckle of oblivious knees I’ve seen the sacred bleach absolve a beautiful mind I’ve seen the sacred permanence of Generator 9 Keep knocking on doors that read “vacancy” And read the writings on the wall Your misconception of reality has brought us to a halt
6.
Black Summer 04:57
Time is getting heavy In the age where dreams go to die Clutch your evil nature And hang on for your life But when we say goodbye You'll wash your accomplished hands You'll make a new life Forged out of the sacred times Life becomes one black summer after the other And you can't fight the vertigo Don't let your thoughts dry Soak them in the sacred brine Without a purpose... Without a fear... Without redemption.. Your soul is clear... And when we say goodbye I'll wash these disheveled hands You'll make a new life Corrupted by the endless sky Eulogies and epitaphs you gotta write Tell the world their fathers are gonna die Hide your eyes, the black stains are turning white Generate the sickness of your own...

about

In the summer of 2016, Seattle WA band Crystal Desert teamed up with producer Simon Nicol to create a series of recordings which explore the darker corners of their manic psychedelic rock sound. Originally released incrementally as singles on limited-run cassettes, all of the BLACK SUMMER songs are now available here as a definitive collection.
Coming off of a tour in support of the "Four Corners: A Split" compilation and their February 2016 debut EP "What Is Crystal Desert?," the band invested their energy into a series of songwriting and audio recording experiments which became the BLACK SUMMER sessions. All of the songs were recorded in pairs in the foyer of a 115 year old house in Everett, WA. Each pair of songs makes use of a different set of audio engineering techniques.
